During the renovation works of the Szent András Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Hévíz the developer and the renovation architect encountered a surprise. They did not expect to find decades-old structural elements in the building structure at the outset of the works, during the breaking up of the old layer structure. Given the situation, the new layer structure - gravel filling, concrete course, waterproofing, thermal insulation, and blind concrete - could only have been constructed with additional costs and effort. Therefore, on the recommendation of the architect the developer chose to use Energocell® foam glass granules. By using the granules both the gravel filling and the thermal insulation can be replaced in one work-phase. As a result, there was no need for the structural concrete blocks to be broken up, saving time and money during execution.
