Lightweight Fill Built in the Structure of the Etele Pláza 

The most recent shopping centre in Budapest is located along the no. 4 subway line, and it can be accessed from the underpass as well. The underground structure extends over a 50-70 m area under the building, and between the two constructions a lightweight, easy to incorporate, and reasonably priced product was needed. This is the reason why the Energocell® foam glass granules were chosen for this project.

The filling of nearly 1.5 m was incorporated in successive 20-cm layers, using an excavator, rubber-tracked machinery, and vibratory plates of 50 to 100 kg.
